Spiny Starfish Information Report.



Learning Intentions for Science
  • We are learning to understand that all living creatures have a life cycle.

Literacy

As part of our rocky shore unit we will also use our literacy skills to read and learn about the rocky shore and to write an information report on a rocky shore creature.

Writing
We are learning to write an information report about an animal.
We are learning to use our writing skills across the curriculum.

Quick Writes Term 4

We have been working on Quick Writes.’  This is where you are given something to write about (a writing prompt) and you only have 10 mins to write as much as possible using this writing prompt.


For our writing prompts we will use either images or short videos.

Fireworks.
As I slowly walked towards the karaka (orange) smoke. As the fireworks went off it sounded like an explosion. I felt excitement bubbling up inside me. People all around me were screaming with excitement or fear some thought that it was a bomb others knew that it was from the fireworks. The closer I got to the smoke the more I could smell it. Once I was inside the smoke I was lost inside I couldn’t see a way out I was surrounded by karaka- orange smoke

Tomato fight.

I can taste the pulped tomatoes in my mouth. My hair is covered in bright red juice and full of little brown kōpura (seeds). My whole body is sticky from the dried up tomato juice. People are squishing the tomatoes into a pulp with their feet. The bright whero tomato juice is splattered on everyone and looks like whero blood dripping of their bodies. The ground looks like it is covered in blood but it is just bright red tomato juice. Everything around you is covered in whero (red) tomato juice.

 Spider man        

I heard a loud bang and came out to see what it was. As soon as I stepped outside I was covered head to toe in aniwaniwa (rainbow) confetti. The confetti is all the colours of the rainbow and more. Once I got all of the aniwaniwa confetti off me I got hit right in the face with the strong aroma of food and petrol. All around me music is playing and people are screaming in delight because there right in front of me was spiderman. All around me I hear voice mumbling about how excited they are about meeting spider man. I find myself following a delicious scent which turned out to be delicious food. I hear the rattling of the trains all around me.

A stormy po(night).

There was a loud bang and then a bright white flash of light. I stepped outside to see what was going on. I opened my door ever so slightly and was hit in the face by the smell of the salt front the sea. Then I stepped outside and was instantly drenched in freezing cold wai(water) from head to toe. I went back inside to dry off and when I shut my door I heard what sounded like screams but it was just the hau howling, whistling and banging on the windows outside. When the hau stopped banging on the windows. I heard the waves smashing against the barrier that was holding them back.All of a sudden it went pitch black and I people scream outside in fright. The power had gone off and nobody could see what was happening. It was a wild po(night).
